The opposite of joy?

Sadness is the state in which happiness is absent. What’s the opposite of joy?
I recently read that ‘happiness should be the natural state and unhappiness an interruption, just as a cold or a headache are interruption in your normal state of health’
Which got me wondering as to how happy am I in my general state, and I came up with a happiness rating for myself, by which I stop myself every other hour and rate my state 😛 I’ve concluded that I’m generally a happy human with the odd moment of anxiety!
Now the cause of this anxiety I’ve noticed is when I allow my mind to drift into the future. Livid scenarios which might never occur! So I’m learnig to live in the now. Easier said than done. But as a dear friend says, it’s a muscle n u have to train it!

Probably the most valuable lesson I’ve learnt since I began this journey of ‘life’s lessons’ is how we precieve things. Put simply, life is as we precieve it. Every event means the meaning which we give it. This has helped me tremendously.

Self hypnosis fascinates me. I’ve read quite a bit on the subject but haven’t gotten around experimenting with it yet. Like many, I had many false assumptions regarding hypnosis which have been cleared up :p

In other news, it’s my birthday soon! Expecting it to be super duper awesome inshaAllah!

I have an awesome topic to write in a bit, hang around!

Ta!

    Awesome !! Seriously.

It’s a very complicated topic btw, and almost every philosopher thoughout the course of humanity tried to define happiness, since it’s the goal for most of us.

What you said is amazingly true “Put simply, life is as we precieve it”. Simple yet very crucial ! One day I’m very happy with what I have, the next day I’m the most upset person on earth.

Quoting my two most favorite philosophers…Aristotle divided happiness into three catergories: 1. Physical 2. Social 3. Intellectual.

and one Ayn Rand’s catchy lines “and joy is not to be stumbled upon, but to be acheived”.

    Great post 3osh ! Loved it !
